RIVER

National Mississippi River Museum

Start with river wildlife, working water and stories of people along the Mississippi.

Follow the museum with a Dubuque riverfront walk; watch for commercial traffic from public viewing areas.

Fact or folklore?

Good questions make a better trip.

Bigfoot is regional folklore; the Willow Creek museum is a real place to learn about local stories, not evidence of a verified animal or a plotted sightings database.

Angling records change as new catches are certified. Use the IGFA’s live record search for species, record class and current evidence before making a travel plan. The map does not invent a “largest catch” location.

Commercial barges are working vessels. The river stops invite you to visit museums, bridges and legal public overlooks; check licensed sightseeing operators separately for passenger trips.
