This is not a race through every Northwoods town. It is one strong weekend built around fall color, a UTV day and the small stops that make the drive feel like part of the trip.
Let the weekend begin before the trail.
Check in, walk downtown and keep dinner easy. If you need a machine for the next day, confirm the pickup time, permitted riding areas and current trail conditions before turning in.
Start prepared. Leave room for the road to surprise you.
Pick up the UTV, review the route and safety guidance, then choose one northern direction rather than trying to cover every trail. Save enough daylight for an unhurried return and an evening meal.
